The Daily Programme
There will be two classes on offer each day, led by Alice and Katie. The daily sessions will focus on movement, breath and relaxation to make your body stronger and more flexible, enhancing your awareness of breath, alignment and inner connection. Classes will be suitable for all abilities.
Expect a range of classes from dynamic asana to yin in the purpose built yoga shala, as well as workshops to help you tackle all those things you’ve been struggling with. In between all classes, you’ll be made delicious and nourishing meals which will leave you feeling warm inside. Between classes, there will be time to go for hikes, bicycle rides, have time at the beach to take in the sun, or simply just sit and admire the gorgeous views.
Every class and workshop is optional, but we don’t think you’ll want to miss these wonderful offerings of revitalising vinyasa flows along with the power of yin. Expect to feel fully relaxed after a great day of classes.
Itha108 is a Greek island retreat set in a place of outstanding natural beauty, providing a space specially for peace, relaxation and practice.
Itha108 overlooks the sea and the eastern coastline of neighbouring Kefalonia from an elevated wilderness of olive trees and exposed rocks that provide the elements around which it is built, allowing its natural beauty to speak for itself.
An emphasis on indoor-outdoor living ensures full use of the land and its treasures that extend to sweeping and hidden beaches below. There are many social and quiet spaces that allow guests to enjoy the landscape and relax.
The Teaching Team
Alice teaches a creative Vinyasa flow with a strong focus on anatomy. She crafts her classes as a way of curiously exploring the body’s pathways to find space through interesting sequences. The goal for Alice as a teacher is to offer you an embodied practice of playfulness, awareness and acceptance.
Alice became a yoga teacher after graduating from drama school where she also focused heavily on physical theatre and dance. She did her 200hr training with YogaLondon in Ecuador. She most recently did her 300hr training with Sianna Sherman in Portland, Oregon, in Rasa Yoga.
Rasa yoga has had a huge impact on Alice’s teaching style and how to incorporate yoga off the mat. To break down barriers, deeply listening to all layers of the body and a constant humble wish to grow have all become mantras for her to live by.
Katie first found yoga to gain flexibility and develop mindfulness in a hectic city lifestyle. Out of her practice grew a love of dynamic vinyasa flow, which is reflected in her teaching.
Alongside a strong asana practice dedicated to building strength and flexibility, her classes also encourage focus, effort and presence on the mat.
Off the yoga mat, Katie is a big foodie with a passion for travel. She is most happy with sand between her toes and wind in her hair.
Over the course of the week, you will enjoy plenty of home-cooked meals that blend traditional Greek cuisine with a contemporary style.
All the food at Itha108 is fresh and has been made up of local produce. All vegetables are organic and sourced from the best of what Ithaca and neighbouring Kefalonia has to offer. Vegetarian food is mainly promoted during the retreat, with freshly caught fish being available upon request.
