How to Chaturanga Dandasana (Four Limbed Staff Pose)

In this yoga tutorial I’ll breakdown the foundations of Chaturanga Dandasana (Four limbed staff pose). It’s performed so often in almost all yoga classes and if not done with enough awareness, could potentially lead to injury.

I want you to feel powerful in this pose whether you’re having to skip some, modify or bust out the full version. It’s a posture you want to be able to sustain not only throughout one yoga class but hopefully throughout your life.

As always I’ll offer alternatives for those having to take a break from the pose:

  • Modifications to the pose
  • Variations and strengthening tips
  • Methods to figure out what works best for your body
